Part Poem. Part Rave. Part Snapchat Story. Part Political Statement.

What happens when "Drugs” are the only Home you have to go back too? Chloe's debut semi-autobiographical spoken word theatre solo show attempts to answer this. Set inside London’s ever changing party and rave culture.

Title based on the Motto Chloe used to have when Weed was her Medicine, Tinder was her Google Maps and her Identity was engraved into the data of her Instagram. Living her best life. Raving the days away.

They say when you have nothing left, all you can do is Write. In this day and age, all you can do is gram / snap / tweet.

In London, 1 in 5 young people are homeless. A City, where young people become statistics and are invisible, having their stories misguidedly told by the rich. Their lives appropriated and sold back to them. This show aims to demystify what it really means to be a Young, Gay, Underclass Woman in London 2019 - by giving her a Stage, No Filter.

This is the World Premier of this Production.

Chloe Florence is a Spoken Word Poet, Writer and Performer. She started writing when her Mental Health and Living Situation deteriorated in the form of short poems, rants and bars. After finding the Roundhouse, she realised her poetry wasn't just another emo phase and spoken word wasn't just for rich people.

She has since performed her words at Bestival 2018 (Jack Rooke's Poetry Pals), Opened for Saul Williams (Roundhouse Main Space), Toured with Lyrix Organix UnFold (Late at Tate Britain, Sage Gateshead), Featured at Talia Randall's 'What Words are Ours?' and BoxedIn and performed at Festivals such as Last Word, Rising Sound, Brainchild and Citadel.

Praise for previous work:

Joelle Taylor - 'A Poet of ferocity and empathy who holds the hopes of a generation of misplaced humanity in her hands. A necessary and stunning voice.'

Bridget Minamore - 'The way Chloe weaves stories together is always impressive. She is powerful, commandeering attention and speaking directly to everyone in the room.'

Dominic Ansell, Roundhouse - 'Roundhouse is incredibly excited to be supporting Chloe as a Resident Artist and Beyond. Chloe's enthusiasm for Story-telling is infectious. She consistently creates high quality work that gives a voice to those often disregarded by society, bringing honest, moving stories to the stage as a poet, performer and playwright.'

Madeline Accalia - 'Chloe Florence writes with ferocity and intimate bravery. Her work is alight with politics and the fight for representation of the unheard. Being able to watch her perform is a privilege, her words cut through the facades of formalities and demand your attention.'

Venue Details

The Vaults,
Leake Street,

Eight unbelievable venues, three stylish bars and a top-notch restaurant, all hidden beneath Waterloo. From 6pm until the early hours, there’s nowhere else you need to be. Welcome to VAULT 2016

“The business model for the creative industries is broken. For every performer at Edinburgh working for nothing, read musician on Spotify or writer on the net. Providers of content make peanuts, while the controllers of the infrastructure… walk away with extraordinary profits. … How can we transfer some of the wealth grabbed by, say, hotels in Edinburgh and hand it to the people who generated it?”
Patrick Collinson, The Guardian, 29 / 8 / 15

We want VAULT Festival to be the people’s festival. For six weeks, join this carnival of experience, filled with entertainment and around every corner an unexpected adventure. From hard-hitting drama to outrageous comedy, from dance to late-night parties, VAULT takes in the bravest and best of the next generation of creators.

“It’s risky to bring a show [to Edinburgh Festival] that you know needs a lot of development in the faint hope that someone will spot a gold nugget and offer to help nurture it. In any case, if you are only here with something in the hope of catching someone’s eye, you are selling audiences short. They should be the people you really make the show for, not some producer who may or may not pitch up.”
Lyn Gardner, The Guardian, 20 / 8 / 15

We put up the flag here at the edge of theatreland, and gather acts & artists, bands & companies from all over to come and make something unforgettable. It’s their festival, and we’re inviting you to celebrate it with us.

We’re doing our best to reinvent the non-funded creative sector and make it sustainable for both the artist and the festival. What we give is space: to innovate, take risks and cooperate with each other. We don’t charge rent. We do take 30% of show box office, which goes some way – but not all the way towards covering our costs. In this way, Artists and Festival live or die together.
Come and see what the people have made: there’s a conversation every single night about where we go from here. There’s three great bars, fantastic food and enough entertainment to make the outside world irrelevant as long as our doors are open.

Halfway down Leake Street (the Graffiti Tunnel). Please do not go to the Launcelot Street entrance. The venue can be hard to find – please leave more time than you usually would.
